DB2 agent fails to start with a connection error from the FglAM to the monitored host

Exception java.net.ConnectException: Error opening socket to server host/10.1.1.1 on port 60,030 with message: Connection refused. ERRORCODE=-4499, SQLSTATE=08001

* the port 60,030 indicated in the message is environment specific and may differ from system to system

CAUSE #1

TCP/IP may not be properly enabled on your DB2 database server.

CAUSE #2

An external firewall rule is blocking access to the DB2 port between the FglAM and monitored host.

CAUSE #3

An incorrect DB2 port has been specified in the Agent Status Properties

RESOLUTION #1

Use the db2set DB2COMM command from the DB2 command window to start the TCP/IP connection:

db2set DB2COMM=protocol_names

For example, to set the database manager to start connection managers for the TCP/IP communication protocols, enter the following commands:

db2set DB2COMM=tcpip
db2stop
db2start

RESOLUTION #2

Open firewall access which may be restricting access to the DB2 port

RESOLUTION #3

Ensure that the correct DB2 port is used when setting up the agent.

1. In the Foglight console, navigate to Administration > Agents > Agent Status
2. Highlight the DB2 agent and click the Edit Properties button
3. Adjust the value in the Port field
4. Click the Save button at the bottom right corner of the page
