How to connect to the Exchange Edge Transport Server in the perimeter network (DMZ)?

1. Create a local account on the Edge server with the same name and password as the MessageStats service account
2. Add the local account to the Local Administrators group on the Edge server
3. Grant the local account read rights to the Tracking Log share on the Edge server
4. Disable UAC if it is enabled
5. To permit short name resolution of the Edge server, do one of the following:
   a. Add a record for the Edge server to the Host file of the MessageStats server
   b. Create an A record for the Edge server in DNS
6. Ensure the following ports are open between the MessageStats server and the Edge server:
   - TCP/UDP 135, 136, 137, 138, 139 and 445
    

Note: A Standalone Edge Transport Server with no Edge Subscription can not be monitored by MessageStats.
