ERROR when loading Core dashboards:"... wcf.xml not found"

When accessing the core dashboards (for example reports), the dashboard is not loading properly and the following error can be found in the log file:

"Caused by: java.io.FileNotFoundException: WCFResource system:core_commons:wcf.xml not found."

The Core-Commons functionality has been corrupted. It can be fixed by following the steps below:

1. Go to "Administration | Cartridges | Cartridge Inventory"
2. Select the tab "Core Cartridges"
3. Find the cartridge "Core-Dashboards" and select it
4. Disable the cartridge and re-enable it

If the above steps do not help, try the approach below:

1. Stop the FMS
2. Go to $FMS_HOME/cartridge folder
3. Copy the file Core-Dashboards-<version>.car file into folder $FMS_HOME/upgrade/cartridge
4. Now restart the FMS

This snippet "core_commons" from the error messages shows that the Core-Commons cartridge is the problematic one. This cartridge is a sub cartridge of the Core-Dashboards cartridge. If the problematic cartridge is a sub cartridge of another one and it cannot be found on the "Core Cartridges" dashboard, go to"$FMS_HOME/state/cartridge.exploded" folder and search in there for the problematic cartridge. Due to the path structure you will find the cartridge which needs to be re-enabled.
