How to launch MSI packages using Application Launcher
Description
How to launch MSI packages using the Application Launcher.
Cause
The Application Launcher object can be used to execute a Windows Installer package installation. Windows Installer packages have a .MSI file extension.
Resolution
Create a new Application Launcher element in Desktop Authority with the following settings:
Filespec: Msiexec.exe
The "/i" argument is required. It is a command-line switch for "Installation" for the MSIEXEC executable.
Arguments: /i \\Server\Share\Filename.msi
Run as Admin: Enable if elevated permissions are required
The domain user account used to start the Desktop Authority Server Service (SLUser account) must have read and execute access to where the .MSI file is located if the "Run as Administrator" option is selected. If this option is not selected, the user logging on must have access to the target file.
