Installation aborts when reinstalling agent - "Failed to create_default_collection" (4259220)

Installation of collector agent fails and the installer.log contains the following errors:

Message(SCException): "API function: "Creating the history collection" ("createDefaultCollectionInternal") Failed. Return Code: "-27", Return Message: "Failed to create_default_collection""
Message(User): "An internal issue has occurred.
Please retry the last operation to continue the installation process.
If this attempt also fails, please contact Quest Support."

utils.exceptions.SCException: API function: "Creating the history collection" ("createDefaultCollectionInternal") Failed. Return Code: "-27", Return Message: "Failed to create_default_collection"

The failure occurs when running the Performance Analysis Agent installer after having previously used the uninstall option for the same monitored host and instance. The uninstall can fail to remove the hostname-instance data directory on the Middleware server.

WORKAROUND:

1. On the Middleware server check if a data directory exists for the previously removed hostname and instance and remove or rename it if found.

For example

Oracle:           Remove or rename: <install dir >/agents/StealthCollect/data/myhost-mydb
SQL Server:   Remove or rename: <install dir >\agents\SC_MSSQL\data\myhost-mydb
DB2:              Remove or rename: <install dir >\agents\SC_DB2\data\myhost-mydb

2.Re-run the Performance Analysis Agent installer.
