WORKAROUND:
No. Running Foglight on a system with less than the minimum requirements is an unsupported configuration.
Example: Foglight (64bit, embedded database) requires a minimum of 12GB RAM because the Foglight Management Server (FMS) and Database are hard coded to use 4GB each by default. Add on the operating system overhead, and you wind up with the 12GB RAM requirement.
Larger Foglight installations may require more memory depending on your environment, number of systems monitored, type of monitoring being done (VMware, Application Servers, Database Servers, etc.). CPU usage is also important to consider. Foglight is constantly evaluating metrics and rules, and as such is computationally expensive.
Failure to meet minimum CPU requirements could result in a system that performs poorly or crashes. Disk space is critical as well. Foglight uses a database which stores metrics. The minimum size of that database is 80GB. Foglight systems with an embedded database have a 120GB contiguous disk space requirement. Failure to meet these requirements can cause Foglight to not install correctly.
Running out of disk space will cause Foglight to stop working, and may permanently corrupt the Foglight database.
