How to prevent an AA Service Agent from starting when the operating system starts up (4240259)

To prevent an Active Administrator Service Agent from starting when the operating system starts, follow the steps in either of the two options below. Option one is the recommend approach, however; if you are in a situation that you do not have access to the Active Administrator Server Management application, follow the steps in option 2.

Option 1:

1. Start the Active Administrator Server Management application
2. Select the domain controller that is being monitored by the agent you want to prevent from starting when the operating system starts.
3. On the toolbar, click the Deactivate button

Option 2:

1.  Log on to the server that contains the service agent that you want to prevent from starting when the operating system starts
2. On the Windows Task Bar, click Start then select Run
3. In the textbox, type Services.msc and click OK
4. In the list of services, double-click the service named Active Administrator Agent to open its properties
5. If the service is running, click the Stop button
6. In the Startup type drop-down select Manual
7. Click OK to save and close the service properties window
