Title
Import DB2 Connections in Toad. Errors: "SQL5005N: Unable to init API" and "'DB21018E A System error occurred. The command line processor could not continue processing' then appears." -
Description
When exporting the connections from DB2 client v4.6, using the 'Backup' option, and importing them into v4.7, the following error appears:
"SQL5005N: Unable to init APV"Then the connection list remains empty.
Also the error below when trying to add a new catalog entry:
"DB21018E A system error occurred. The command line processor could not continue processing". The IBM Command Line Processor (CLP) also got the same error (after 1 minute). -
Cause
If planning on importing existing connections between the clients, please export using the db2cfimp for 'Template' or 'Maintain' options, not the 'Backup' option.

Resolution
RESOLUTION 1:
Toad will need to be uninstalled and re-installed in order to resolve the issue.
RESOLUTION 2:
Per one customer report, doing the following resolved the issue with trying to import the Configuration / Profile in Toad:
1. Uninstall / Remove the IBM DB2 Client software.
2. Uninstall / Remove Toad Data Point and/or Toad for DB2.
3. Reinstall the IBM DB2 Client software, preferably the 32-bit one (ibm_data_server_client_win32_V10.5.zip).
4. Reinstall Toad Data Point and/or Toad for DB2.
5. Import Configuration / Profile -or- re-create the catalog entries manually. -
