When using TOAD to select BFILE columns, the response time is so slow and may be unusable. Executing the same query without the BFILE columns responds as expected.
Go to View | Toad Options | Data Grids | Data and uncheck the option 'Preview CLOB and LONG data'
When checked, Toad will preview CLOB and LONG data in the data grids. When unchecked, there will be no preview. Checking this option can sometimes cause performance problems.
The default is unchecked.
