Cannot connect when launched as standalone. Error "Access Violation at address... in module 'ORAN11.DLL' read of address..."
The database drop down field does not list any databases. This is an issue for any client selected.
If Optimizer is launch through an existing Toad connection, Optimizer is automatically connected.

Cause
The tnsnames.ora file cannot be reached.
A tns_admin variable is set up in environmental variables, but is not properly directed to the tnsnames.ora file.

Resolution
Check that the tnsnames.ora file is accessible and in the correct location.
Verify if there's TNS_ADMIN variable in the environmental variables settings. If there is, verify that the path noted holds the tnsnames.ora file and that it is accessible. If there is no TNS_ADMIN string, verify the PATH variable in environmental variables. Make sure the first path listed directs to the correct Oracle Home you wish to use. Then go to that Oracle Home and verify in the Network\Admin directory, that the tnsnames.ora file is there and is accessible.
