Description
When trying to connect to any database, I get the error
"Toad.exe - Application Error
The instructions at.... reference memeory at... The memory could not be 'read'.
Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCLE to debug the program"
I cannot get connected and there are no other errors. I use to be able to connect. -
Cause
Error in the tnsnames.ora file. (Syntax or formatting error?)

Resolution
RESOLUTION 1:
1. Verify that the database information listed in the tnsnames.ora file for the database you are tring to connect to is correct.
2. Verify that there are no other errors in other database information listed. In some situations, an error in one section could cause problems with connection to all databases in the file.
RESOLUTION 2:
Verify that Toad is reading the correct tnsnames.ora file.
You can do this by searching your system for "tnsnames.ora", check that file you wish to read is in the directory that Toad is accessing. Toad should be accessing the client information in the path noted in the Environmental Variables (Control Panel | System | Advanced | Environmental Variables | System Variables | PATH). The first noted path in the Value column is what Toad will follow. If this is incorrect, please make sure the path of the client you wish to use is the first entry of that string.

D:\ora92\ is the path to the oraclient dll and the tnsnames you wish to access.
