Can the naming conventions and default values be set up for various parts of a model?

When adding a relationship between two tables, can the name of the relationship default to something like "Parent Table Name _ Child Table Name"? How can naming conventions be set up for various parts of a model (i.e. unique keys, relationships, etc)?

Set Default Value for relationship names:

Select Settings | Default Values... or open the Properties dialog of particular object (e.g. Relationship Properties form) | right-click the form and select Default Values for Class.

In the Default Values window, select the catagory you want to set default values for. For example to set default relationship name, go to "Relationships" on the left. The right will display the options to set for relationships, one is noted as name.

For more details, please refer to Toad Data Modeler open the help file. Go to the Contents tab of the help window. Drill down to Projects and Models | Options and Configuration | Default Values.

There is also a list of variables to use for default values. In help, go into Projects and Models | Features | Application Variables.

 

 

In some case it may be necessary to set up macros to auto generate a certain name or format (i.e. primary keys, unique keys). Select the entity, right click and choose Macros | Rename | Rename Primary Keys. Using this macro you can rename primary keys, i.e. PK_. More information can be found in help file, see section Scripting and Customization | Macros. he script can be called at any time - and you can easily synchronize the name in case you rename the column or table. Default settings are for all keys, there is no separate option for PKs and for unique keys.
