At times it may be necessary to make changes to the server that is involved in Shareplex replication as a part of maintenance. This may interfere with the determination of validity of License by Shareplex.
Permanent key is derived from MAC address of the server in Windows
In Windows, the host ID is derived from the first MAC address of the server. The License key in turn is derived from the host ID (or we can say it is a function of host ID, among others). This activity may invalidate the existing permanent License key and the Shareplex may shutdown as a result. So if one intends to change the MAC address in Windows environment, it is advisable that Support or Sales be contacted for a temporary (trial) key pending the arrival of the new Permanent key.
