When trying to launch Optimizer from within Toad, a small window pops up within Toad, noting:
"Your SQL statement or PL/SQL code was sent... Optimizer is opened in another window."
But no other window opens up. There is no sign of Optimizer in the task manager or task bar.
Environment restrictions on opening windows that cannot be changed/disabled.
WORKAROUND:
1. Please try the following steps to reset the Application Data Directory for SQL Optimizer by renaming the folder name.
a. Exit SQL Optimizer and Toad
b. In Windows 7, go to directory below and rename folder:
c. C\Users\<USER>\AppData\Roaming\Quest Software\Quest SQL Optimizer for Oracle\<version>. Rename <version> to <version_backup> .
d. Relaunch application and retest the issue.
2. Launch Optimizer as standalone and copy/paste sql manually into the application.
Check for any firewalls set up or any virus protections setting that could be holding back the Optimizer for Oracle application.
Check Window Event Log to see if it brings up an error related to the attempt to launch.
