The Management Server can be run in standalone mode, in High Availability (HA) mode (with an external database), or as a Windows® service.
To start the Management Server from the command line:
To start the Management Server from a Windows® shortcut:
When the Management Server starts successfully, the following message appears in the command window:
|Starts the Management Server (this option is assumed if no commands is specified)
|Provides a unique name for this instance of the Management Server
|Sets an option to be passed directly to the Java VM. Can be used to set more than one VM option
|Displays the version number for this program and exits
|Shows this information, and additional options, then exists.
After the installation is completed, you can install the Management Server as a Windows® service either from the Start menu or the command line.
NOTE: The following procedures assume that you have installed the program shortcuts in the default location

In addition to the commands listed under Additional commands in Starting and stopping the Management Server, the following commands are available for the Foglight Management Server Windows service.
|Start the Management Server Windows service
|Stop and remove the Management Server Windows service
NOTE: The Management Server must be running before you can log into Foglight.
To log into Foglight
Depending on where you installed the program icons, navigate to Start | Programs | Quest | Foglight | Foglight Console (in Windows)
Enter a valid user name and password and click Login.
