When clicking on “Scriptlogic Today” you can view Product, current Version, the number of Licenses purchased, Maintenance Expiration Date, and the number of currently “Managed Devices”.
In order to identify WHAT COMPUTERS are currently taking up those licenses, go to the “Desktop Authority Console”.
Under “Navigation Pane”, go to Reporting | Pre-Defined Reports | Hardware Inventory, and chose the “Managed Computer Inventory” report before clicking on “Generate”.
When doing so, make sure that “ALL” is set for all fields listed and then click “OK” to the generate report.
This will provide a list of all computers that the Desktop Authority Client software resides on over the last 72 hours, which are being counted as “taking up a license” in the Scriptlogic Today screen.
**If a BLANK REPORT is generated, the COMPUTER MANAGEMENT DATA COLLECTION ELEMENT most likely needs to be setup to collect and gather Hardware/Software information.
**FOLLOWING STEPS ARE NEEDED IF BLANK REPORTS WERE PRODUCED**
After enabling reporting data will begin to get collected but can take up to 48 hours to collect all updated computer information for REPORTS.
Step 1:
Under “Computer Management Profile”, go to a profile or CREATE a new profile that will apply to all computers in your environment. If creating a new profile, it’s recommended to leave the “Validation Logic Rules” field blank and confirm that all “Class”, “OS” and “TIMING” items have checkmarks.
Step 2:
Under this profile, go to the “DATA COLLECTION” element and create a NEW ELEMENT. Also, it’s recommended to leave “Validation Logic Rules” blank.
Step 3:
Under “Settings” tab, make sure that “Collect Client Hardware Information” and “Collect Installed Software Information” are checked, at a minimum.
Step 4:
Under “Timing” tab, “Startup” and “Schedule” is recommend to expedite all of your computers to provide updated data in a timely fashion.
Step 5:
Go to “File”, and select “QUEUE UPDATE OF CLIENT FILES”. Then “Save and Replicate”.
After 48 hours try to run the “Managed Computer Inventory” report. If report still fails to produce any data, contact Technical Support for additional assistance.
** ”Refresh” timing is not recommended for environments but it can expedite data collection. “Startup” and/or “Scheduled” may take more time but “Refresh” will provide a report every hour, leading to a lot of network traffic for larger environments (estimated approximately 500 or more managed computers).
NOTE: Make sure to “Queue update of client files” and “Save & Replicate” so that all licensing information has been pushed to the client machines.
