Azure SQL database
Use as a FMS repository is currently unsupported because when a database is under load (or another database on the same machine is under load), connections to the server can start to be terminated. For an application that is designed for Azure, any actions that involve the database would be written to handle the errors and retry the unit of work (e.g., execute work in a retry template). In our current implementation against an infrastructure SQL Server, a similar overload condition might just result in degraded performance. The same sort of overload condition with Windows Azure SQL Database might result in data loss."
Use of an Azure SQL Database as a PI repository was rejected in January 2021.
An Azure Managed Instance is supported as a PI repository beginning with the 5.9.7.21 database cartridges as described in KB 330378.
FMS repository database support for an Azure Managed Instance has been added as part enhancement FOG-1284 in the 6.0 and higher releases of the Foglight Management Server (FMS).
