Error: "An unexpected error occurred while gathering public folders from server <SERVERNAME&gt (4224120)

When running the Exchange Public Folders gathering, the Exchange Public Folder Tree Structure Enumeration task has the following error:

"An unexpected error occurred while gathering public folders from server <SERVERNAME>"

The server listed does not have any Public Folder stores

The Exchange Public Folder Tree Structure Enumeration task is run against the server configured as the Connection Server.

Modify the properties of the Exchange Public Folders gathering to use a Public Folder server as the Gathering Server and the server used for Public Folder MAPI:

1. From the MessageStats console expand Tasks
2. Right click the Public Folder gathering and select Properties
3. Step through the wizard to display the Gathering Server page
4. Clear the Use Default Configuration check box
5. Select I want to use the following Exchange server
6. Select Connect to an Exchange 2007 or earlier organization and enter the NETBIOS name of one of your 2003 Public Folder servers
7. Click Next
8. Clear the Use Default Configuration check box
9. Select I want to use the following server for public folder gathering tasks
10. Select For an Exchange 2007 mailbox server or earlier and enter the NETBIOS name of one of your 2003 Public Folder servers
11. Select Access the Exchange server directly
12. Click Next and Finish
