Enhancement Features (ENH: FE)
Defect Fixes (FIX: DE)
Enhancements
Operating system support is enhanced to support 64-bit Windows platforms: RSC installs to Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008 64-bit Editions; Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008 64-bit support is added.
Advanced SMTP server settings (authentication, secure communication and other e-mail settings) are configurable via RSC.
“Adding to favorites” functionality is implemented for any machine within Active Directory or the Remote Computer Groups container.
Computer search is performed across the overall RSC environment (all Active Directory domains and RSC logical folders (Remote Computer Groups and InstantAssist Clients)).
Automatic configuration of Windows Firewall exceptions during RSC setup and Internet Gateway.
“Wildcard computer search” is implemented.
User can select View quality, depending on the purpose of the remote session. When the user optimizes for speed he will get better response times, when user optimizes for quality he will get better picture quality.
InstantAssist and ExpertAssist clients fully supported on Microsoft Windows 7 32-bit and 64-bit Editions, Windows 2008 R2.
File Upload functionality has been added to InstantAssist.
The Universal RSC Administrator account allows RSC to fully enforce its user access list. Users who were granted permissions to perform operations on the remote machine can do it, regardless of permissions settings on the remote machine.
InstantAssist status window enhanced to display connection status and server IP to which InstantAssist client is connected.
The SMTP server settings provided during RSC installation or console data modification are tested for validity. If test connection fails, a corresponding warning message displayed.
Internet Gateway is always licensed and shipped together with the currently available or newly purchased Enterprise license.
ExpertAssist
Managing a remote computer via ExpertAssist is not possible if ExpertAssist is set to listen for connections on a dedicated IP address.
When a user loges in to the EA management console, after running the "Emergency reboot" or "Scheduled Reboot" commands initiated from within the ExpertAssist console on the target machine, the user will see a message that EA has experienced an unexpected error.
ExpertAssist Setup
Integration with Desktop Authority may be lost if you upgrade a previously installed version of ExpertAssist to the version shipped with RSC using the invitation or ExpertAssist Deployment package.
The EA upgrade will fail if the EA printer driver is the system default printer driver.
Gateway
Running the LAN Gateway component (deploys with RSC on LAN Server) for a long time may cause CPU overload.
InstantAssist
When uploading file via InstantAssist to target desktop that contains a file with the same name, it will automatically overwrite the old file.
An “Access denied” message may appear when a file upload is interrupted or cancelled within InstantAssist.
When the target machine is in a remote management session via InstantAssist it’s CPU is excessively loaded by the java.exe process.
Remote Support Center
When managing an external ExpertAssist client (through Internet Gateway), the management session may fail to start with error “Application failed to run”.
InstantAssist clients disappear from the RSC Console hierarchical grid if you restart the server that hosts Remote Support Center.
If the LAN Gateway was setup with the NAT, LAN EA and IA clients, it cannot connect to the NAT IP address after the Internet Gateway package has been installed.
Remote Support Center Console
Internet Explorer 7/8 with enabled Enhanced Security mode on Windows Server 2003/2008 displays a warning information bar when configuring the RSC Security Settings page.
When specifying the RSC Administrator credentials either during installation or RSC Console configuration, the account is not checked for validity, only for login and password match.
Remote Support Center Setup
All Web sites under Internet Information Services are stopped after RSC installation.
Installation does not continue with an error message “Unable to retrieve web server name”, if wildcard server certificate is installed in Internet Information Services.
