Error: Installation requires Windows 2003 domain or later (4220941)

Error: Installation requires Windows 2003 domain or later

During the upgrade or first time installation the following error message comes up onscreen
“Error: Installation requires Windows 2003 domain or later”.

This error is generated if the Domain Functionality Level is less than 2003. This information can be found by going to Active Directory Users and Computers, right-clicking the Domain name and selecting Properties. The Domain Functional Level is shown in the window that opens.

In order to install version 9.x, the Domain must be upgraded Windows Server 2003 or higher.
