Backup files are not being deleted per the Backup set expires days in Maintenance Plan. This parameter is set in the Options tab of LiteSpeed Maintenance Plans.

WORKAROUND:
Set the "Remove files older than" to number of hours (i.e. 23 hours instead of 2 days).

Backup set expires
(SSIS plans only) Specify the number of days after which a backup set expires or the exact date the set expires. This provides the days when a backup file may be deleted, it does not delete the files. It specifies the number of days that must elapse before this backup media set can be overwritten.

Remove files older than
(Legacy plans only) Specify the number of days to elapse before removing backup files. This parameter deletes the backup files (based on tme period since creation)

Select this option to verify that LiteSpeed successfully wrote all backup files and can read them.
