Description:
Sybase restore failed with "Load of database failed"

Symptoms:
Sybase restore failed with "Load of database failed"

From the binary log context:
>>Sybase Message: 'Error encountered by Backup Server. Please refer to Backup Server messages for details. '
>>NUMBER '8009', SEVERITY: '16', STATE: '1', LINE: '1' SERVER: 'LBYD' PROC: ''

Upon inspecting the sybase backup server log, you see the following:
>>CS-Library Error: 24.1.0
>>cs_convert: cslib user api layer: common library error: The conversion/operation was stopped due to a syntax error in the source field.

Change the language and character set of the sybase backup server to a supported format. For example, Language = English, Character Set = cp850
Language and character set of the backup server can be change by using the Sybase server utility and selecting the configure backup server.
