Description:
The main difference between the standard NetVault Linux build and the Snap Appliance build is that the Snap Appliance NetVault build has a modified file system plugin that enables the backup of Guardian OS (the Snap Appliance operating system) access control lists (ACLS) and snapshots.
Therefore whilst you should not apply the standard Linux build to the Snap Appliance machine you are able to apply standard NetVault Linux support packs as long as they do not affect the file system plugin.
If for some reason the NetVault installation has become compromised and there is a need to re-install the NetVault server with the default distribution supplied with the Snap Appliance box, the procedure is as follow.
Procedure:
A. Disable NetVault on the Snap Appliance Machine via a web browser (http:/snapservername)
1. Select Maintenance add-on features
2. Select BakBone NetVault
3. Change the 'enable' status from Yes to No
4. Save the change
B. Check the NetVault installation directory
1. SSH into the Snap Appliance box using the Admin Account
More /etc/.nv6_home example output
C. Run the Uninstall Program
1. Switch user to root - su root
2. cd/ <netvault installation directory>/util/uninstall
ie /hd/vol_mnt0/BakBone/NetVault/util/uninstall
D. Enabling NetVault on the Snap Appliance Machine via a web browser (http:/snapservername)
