When creating a Virtual Library upon the Linux or Unix OS you will notice a progress count screen highlighting the various Slot’s created over a period of time. If this screen is closed, there is no way to retrieve it.
Symtoms: Progress upon larger Virtual Library’s can be lengthy dependent upon the size you choose to create. If you accidentally close the GUI or the VTL Creation progress screen you are no longer able to see what the progress is, when it completes and when you can safely add the device.
Solution; Browse to the folder that the Virtual Library is being created in. Open it up and view the Slots and Media directories.
By running the command df –k upon the Media and Slots directories, you can see how the progress is going. You can also browse the slot or media directories to verify what slot number/media number it has created up to.
In watching these directories you can determine when the growth size stops with df –k. When it does stop, you can then safely add your Virtual Library into Netvault.
