Description:
Cannot start Netvault GUI after adding new drive
Symptoms:
10/15 seconds after starting the GUI shuts itself down with the following messages:
'failed to reinitialize driver', 'failed to send message on lingering connection'
Solution/workaround/procedure:
This problem could be due to a corrupt media database.
To check if that is the case please do the following:
-Stop the Netvault service
-Rename the media database (~\NetVault\db\MediaDatabase --> \NetVault\db\MediaDatabase.copy).
-Restart the Netvault service. Netvault will automatically generate a new media database.
-Check that the GUI now works
If that is the case:
-Stop the Netvault service once more.
-In the copy of the media database delete the following files.
~\NetVault\db\MediaDatabase\Records\DeviceTree
~\NetVault\db\MediaDatabase\Indexes\DeviceTree
-Rename the copy of the media database back to it's original name (~\NetVault\db\MediaDatabase.copy --> \NetVault\db\MediaDatabase).
-Restart the Netvault service.
-Open the Device Management window which should now be empty.
-Readd the Librarys/drives except for the most recent one.
-Stop the Netvault service.
-Check that the GUI works.
If that is the case :
-Readd the most recent drive in Device Management.
The GUI should now work correctly
