Description:
NDMP backup fails with NDMP_NO_MEM_ERR is a generic error message that means it failed to allocate memory.
Symptoms:
NDMP: ERROR 6: Direct Access Restore information is supported Getting dumpdates for /apps level '0'
Failed to start backup: NDMP_NO_MEM_ERR
Data operation aborted
Increase the logging level on the filer to get more information about what his happening. In my case, it was because there was a dumpdates directory specified that did not exist. Creating the directory resolved the problem.
