Description:
When running a NetVault Database backup, a warning message will appear indicating a problem with one of the tables, followed by a number of error messages resulting in a failed backup.
Symptoms:
A warning message similar to the following will be generated:
"Failed to retrieve 0 byte record at XXXXXXX from table ‘TableName’ "
Followed by error messages resulting in a failed backup:
"Command failed, re-initializing driver
Attempt to save a stream with no segments
Failed to validate segment data for backup, record was not updated
Failed to add backup record
Failed to write index of backup to the database
Failed to write index of backup to media
Failed during main database backup phase
Job Status: Backup Failed”
Generally this problem is caused by a NetVault Database corruption in the table identified in the warning message above.
It may be possible to resolve the problem by restoring the NetVault Database from the last successful NetVault Database backup. You should contact Customer Support to identify which component of the NetVault Database should be restored, and to determine if additional resolution steps are required.
