INTERNAL - Backup job fails with "machine_name has gone down" error message (4046635)

Symptoms:
When running a backup of any type, the job fails with a the following messages:

Error 2008/11/22 11:29:47 101 Media nvkj nvkj /VDL1/drives/1: had channel error
Background 2008/11/22 11:29:47 0 System nvkj Machine 'rhora' has gone down
Error 2008/11/22 11:29:47 101 Jobs nvkj Child Process died unexpectedly
Error 2008/11/22 11:29:47 101 Jobs nvkj Fatal error: Backup Died Unexpectedly
Error 2008/11/22 11:29:47 101 Jobs nvkj Job Status: Backup Failed



Cause:
There are many reasons why a backup job can fail with this type of error and it is often down to a network interrupt, however, this can also occur if their are two netvault clients with the same name present on the Netvault Domain, even if only one is added to the Netvault server.
