Symptoms:
If you are running a RAW device backup of dynamic disks with a spanned volume (by ticking the individual physical disks that contain the volume), it causes the disks containing the volume to be reported as "unavailable" in Windows Disk Management. After the backup is complete, the disks need to be "reactivated".
A RAW device backup is intended to be used with disks that don't contain a valid Windows file system and are therefore not mounted by the Operating System. Even though NetVault can usually backup regular volumes without causing them to be dismounted, there is no guarantee that this will always work.
The correct way of backing up a disk with mounted volumes is to run regular file system backups of the volumes, or performing full system backups with a tool like VaultDR Online.
