Title: Restore Options tab is blank and "no restore options available for this plugin" message.
Symptoms:
When we select a file or a folder to restore, in the Restore Options it displays no options and instead it displays "no restore options available for this plugin".
When we launch the job, it fails with the following errors:
Job Message 2011/04/28 14:32:10 3049 Data Plugin FRPARMBX003 File System 7.5.8 restore
Error 2011/04/28 14:32:10 3049 Data Plugin FRPARMBX003 Invalid restore options
Error 2011/04/28 14:32:10 3049 Jobs FRPARNETVAULT Fatal error: Restore failed
There were many backups running at this time, but when there are only 10 jobs running, it displays the Restore Options as normal.
For more information on this topic, please see the Administration Module 2-Basic Operation of NetVault Backup-Web-based Training
Since no Restore Options were selected, the 'Invalid restore options' message was entered and therefore the restore failed.
The Restore needs to have the Restore Options selected as part of the process.
The reason you don't have Restore Options when many backups are running, is down to the NetVault Resources. This was proven by running fewer backups.
Change all of the following items to increase the overall NetVault performance:
1. NetVault Server Process Manager Service under the Windows Services - Logon tab - Interact with desktop ticked. This is for Windows machines only and requires a reboot to take effect. After rebooting proceed as follows:
2. NetVault Server Configurator - Process Manager tab - Shared Memory for Process Table - set to 128000.
3. NetVault Configurator - Logging Daemon tab - Auto purge entries older than (days) should be set to 30 days or lower. This will speed up the NetVault GUI and maintain a manageable NVDB size. Then go to NetVault GUI - Logs - Options - Purge logs and enter a date that is 30 days backwards from today (or if you have entered a lower number within the Configurator, then enter this amount of days backwards from today's date).
4. NetVault Configurator - Media Manager tab - Tick the option "only check available drives and media when processing a media request". This will reduce the number of permutations of tape and drives that are checked when a job is waiting for media.
5. NetVault Configurator, GUI tab, change the following items:
- Job refresh rate in Milliseconds from 1000 to 10000
- Policy tree refresh rate in Milliseconds from 2000 to 20000
- Device refresh rate in Milliseconds from 1000 to 10000
Once all the settings have been entered, then you will have to stop and start the NetVault Services on the NetVault Server Configurator, Services tab when no backups and restores are running, otherwise those jobs will abort.
