Netvault Backup Golden Rules
1 Netvault Database Backup Every Day - Core Plugin
The Netvault Database backup should be the last backup done everyday or the NVDB backup should be scheduled at noon when there are no other backup jobs running.
2 Target Media Groups - Target Tab
Group Labeling media by backup type or location ensure that tapes required for backups are available and minimize the chances of having backup jobs hang waiting for media.
3 Set Reuse Media to something other than never - Target Tab
By default, Reuse Media is set to Never. This setting allows media to be reused automatically as the backup life expires
4 Set Backup Life - Advaned Options Tab
Setting a backup life helps make managing media easier by expiring savesets as the conditions for backup life are met.
5 Netvault Sets - All Tabs
Using sets to create backup jobs will help make job management easier. Changing properties on a set will affect all jobs using that set.
