Description:
Job starts as scheduled but no Media Request occurs.
Symptoms:
* Job kicks off as scheduled but no media request occurs.
* In backup window, the Mac OS clients can not be browsed.
* In the Mac OS system messages file, there are errors such as "xhmcfmp5 kernel: nfs server automount -fstab [256]: not responding"
This is potentially a problem with portmapper daemon of Mac OS X. The problem disappears by changing some configurations in Mac OS.
Remove automount records from the LDAP server using the Inspector function in Workgroup Manager. These automount records had existed unused and had not caused a problem for NetVault. However, after an upgrade of the LDAP in 10.4 (Tiger), the above symptoms occur.
All affected machines need to be rebooted after implementing the solution.
