Phase 2 duplications failing with "Attempt to save a stream with missing segments" (4046169)

Symptoms: When duplicating a backup, the error message "Attempt to save a stream with missing segments" can be seen in the binary log and the backup fails.

Reason:
In specific circumstances, NetVault 8.0 U1 & U2 recognizes a problem with the streams it has duplicated - they are short by one block. Consequently, an error is reported and the job is aborted before the index is written. This only happens when the data that is duplicated spans target media - if all data fits onto one piece of target media, there is no problem.
The same error message has also been reported on duplications of NDMP backups and is being investigated.

Workaround:
This is fixed in release NetVault 8 Update 3.
With previous version, the workaround would be to ensure that the duplicated backups don't span target tapes or to downgrade to NetVault 7.4.5.

During duplications using NDMP is very rare and customers could usually run other duplications. Engineering is currently waiting for additional information from the field.
