Description:
Backup fails when creating backup index.
Symptoms:
Backup fails with "Error writing backup index" or "Error processing new directory list".
Cause of problem:
NetVault's "Temporary" directory, where backup indexes are stored before and during backup, may have become full. In fact the filesystem will have become full preventing NetVault adding to the backup index for a job.
To prevent this issue from happening, either increase free space in $NV_HOME/tmp directory, or change the directory path to where there are enough free space available.
The temporary directory location can be changed with following procedure.
1. Create directory for the temporary directory.
With Windows:
Create the temporary directory with the account used to install NetVault.
With Linux/UNIX:
Create the temporary directory with root user, and change the directory permission to 777.
2. Stop NetVault service.
3. Launch NetVault configurator.
4. Locate "General" tab, and change the "Temporary Directory" path to the one created in Step 1.
5. Apply the changes by clicking "Apply" button.
6. Start NetVault service.
This needs to be checked on both the Netvault Server and most importantly on the Netvault Client
