Description:
Users may attempt to perform a DDT (Disk to Disk to Tape) backup using the Encryption APM on the first phase of the DDT process, intending to duplicate encrypted backups from one media to another.

Symptoms:
DDT Backups backups fail when trying to run the duplication phase.

Using the Encryption APM to encrypt data to the first phase of a DDT backup intending to duplicate the data to another media is not supported under 7.4.5. The reason this does not work is because NetVault duplication does not perform a block-by-block copy. Instead, it reads every file backed up one by one, and copies it over to the media intended as a duplicate copy. Because encryption keys/passwords are maintained on each client, when the duplication phase tries to read data from an encrypted backup it won't be able to, and will fail.
