Description: The NetVault Database Backup hangs on Writing to media.

Symptoms: When you look at the Binary log, you will find a series of job messages stating:

Job Message 2007/08/21 03:01:08 99 Data Plugin <<Server Name>> Backed up 'xxxxxxx.yyy' (82 bytes), followed by the last job message;
Job Message 2007/08/21 03:01:08 99 Data Plugin <<Server Name>> Backing up 'xxxxxxx.yyy' (82 bytes), followed by the last job message;

This indicates that the file above is corrupted, causing the NVDB backup job to hang until it is aborted.

The recommended solution is to do a NVDB restore from a good NVDB backup. However, if the file causing the NVDB backup job to hang can be replaced or recreated, you can try renaming the file showing as "Backing up" and try running the NVDB backup again. Sometimes, you need to create a blank file with the same name in order for the NVDB backup to complete successfully.
