Description: This will show you how to make a single VTL/VDL that spans Multiple Volumes/Drives.
1. Create a VTL that uses all the space you want to use on the first Volume/Disk. This library will have the capacity from the other volumes added to it.
2. Create a VTL on each of the other Volumes/Disks that uses the capacity you want to use on each of those Volumes/Disks. It doesn’t matter how many drives you configure...they will not be transferred, only the slots will be transferred. Do not add these libraries to NetVault. If they get added, make sure all the tapes are in the slots, and then remove the library from NetVault.
3. Stop the NetVault service.
4. Go to the Slots directory in one of the libraries you want to merge in to the first library.
5. Rename the slots so they will continue the sequence of slots in the first library. (i.e. if the first library has slots 1-5, rename these slots to 6-10)
6. Move the slots from this library to the slots directory of the first library.
7. Repeat steps 4-6 if you are adding more than one library.
8. Edit the diskdevices.cfg file in the config directory under netvault (usually /usr/netvault/config for linux/unix or c:\program files\bakbone software\netvault\config for windows) and remove the entries for the all the libraries, except for the first library.
9. Start the NetVault service.
