Description:
Can SQL Server 2000/2005 instances co-exist on one Server?
Symptoms:
With SQL Server 2005 instance configured with tge SQL Server APM, SQL Server 2000 instances can't be browsed. An attempt to browse SQL Server 2000 instances will result in the following warning -
Warning: A Sql Server 2000 instance cannot be browsed with instances of 2005. This Sql Server 2000 instance will appear in the GUI after all Sql Server 2005 Instances are removed.
Similar message pops-up when attempting to browse SQL Server 2005 instances while having the SQL Server APM configured with SQL Server 2000 instance.
Only one version of the SQL Server instance can be browsed/configured through SQL Server APM. To create a backup job for the SQL Server 2005 instance, delete SQL Server 2000 instances and then configure/browse SQL Server 2005 instance - and vice versa.
