Deadlock when 2 consolidation jobs run at the same time -
Description
Two consolidation jobs that are running at the same time, are hung in a 'Waiting for media' state.
Their sources and targets groups are the same. -
Cause
The target tape of one job is the same as the source tape of the other, making it impossible for any of the jobs to progress. -
Resolution
Set a media request timeout on a source.This is enabled under:
nvconfigurator > Media Manager tab > "Use Target Media request timeout for source media request"
This only works if the job's 'Target' tab has the option "Media request timeout" selected.
Additionally it would be recommended to enable "Job retries" under the 'Schedule' tab to allow this job to re-start once it has failed due to the source and target media request time outs.
Alternatively:
Make sure two consolidations having their source data in the same tape or group are never run at the same time.
