Differential VSS backups of datafiles on shares or mount mounts may be incorrect, causing the restore to fail
Cause

Bug: 28998
Encountered a backup failure when performing a VSS differential backup of a database whose datafiles were in a directory C:\MountPoint, where that directory was a mount point for a different volume.
Resolution

1.) Have the volume containing the datafiles be mounted as a drive letter instead of in a subdirectory. If the mounted volume is seen as V:\, for example, this issue is not encountered.
2.) Perform VDI full and differential backups/restores, instead of VSS backups/restores
