Description
How to setup encryption for the phase 2 duplications i.e. you only wish to encrypt tapes that are going off-site and not phase 1 backups to VTL or SmartDisk.

Resolution
Because you want to only encrypt the Phase 2 Duplication to tape (as you are bringing the tapes off-site), the Encryption Plugin and license key should be installed on the NetVault Server, as the NetVault Server handles the duplication process.
Also make sure that the NetVault Server Configurator – Encryption tab has the password entered, the Encryption Plugin type e.g. CAST-256 selected and that the “Encrypt ALL Backups on This Client” is NOT selected. Otherwise all backups will be encrypted and backup issues will occur.
The duplication jobs will then run a bit longer, as the encryption process also takes time.
NOTE:
For Consolidation backups, running data copy with encryption is incompatible. This is stated in the encryption release notes:
