Replication remains suspended during seeding so that new recovery points are not transferred from the source core before the duplicated data is in place on the DR core. Once seeding is complete, you must manually resume replication in order for the epoch between the source core and target core to synchronize. This will transmit the duplicate recovery points from the source core to the target core over the WAN connection and build upon the data populated during the seeding.
In turn, replication can be suspended at any time, as for testing or re-seeding.
NOTE: Suspending will prevent recovery points from rolling up.
There are two levels of suspending and resuming: agent and global. Actions made at the agent level will only apply to the agent selected. Actions performed at the global level will override those at the agent level; however, changes made to the global-level settings will not necessarily change the settings at the agent level.
NOTE: The post-seeding resume must be performed at the agent level.
Suspending Replication
The following directions describe how to suspend replication at the agent level and at the global level.
To suspend replication at the agent level:
The status of the agent will change to Replication is suspended.
To suspend replication at the global level:
The status of all agents listed will change to Replication is suspended.
Resuming Replication
The following directions describe how to resume replication at the agent level and at the global level.
NOTE: If replication was suspended at the agent level, you must resume replication for that server at the agent level. Global resume will not override actions made for individual agents.
To resume replication at the agent level:
The status will read Replication is idle while the recovery points synchronize. Once synchronization is complete, the replication status should display as Sync´ed on <DATE AND TIME>.
To resume replication at the global level:
The status will read Replication is idle while the recovery points synchronize. Once synchronization is complete, the replication status should display as Sync´ed on <DATE AND TIME>.
