User is able to immediately edit the data from the data gride even though the VIEW | OPTIONS | Data Grids | Visual - 'Immediate edit' option is uncheck. When you a user uncheck this option, you have to select the cell twice to place the grid in edit mode as stated by the help file.
Immediate Edit
If this option is checked, as soon as you click a data cell in the grid, the grid will enter edit mode. If unchecked, you must select the cell twice to place the grid in edit mode.
If the data grid is not editable, and the option is checked, it will still appear to enter edit mode but the data will not be editable.
If this option is unchecked, you must double-click a data cell to make it editable.
The default is unchecked.
Works as design. What this option really does is make an inplace editor appear automatically. To easily see the effect of this option, first turn it on VIEW | OPTIONS | Data Grids | Visual | check on Immediate Edit. Then go to a data grid and click on a cell of a number column. See how that little calculator drop-down appears? When the option is turned off, that doesn't happen until you click the cell twice. Its intended for number datatype.
Workaround: Go to VIEW | OPTIONS | Data Grids | Visual | check on option Use read only queries. Then when you want to edit a table in the Schema Browser, you can click the "view/edit query" button just above the grid, add ROWID as the first thing selected, and then the dataset will be editable.
