How do I run GME as a scheduled task?
The following proceedure explains how to run GME in batch (silent) mode:
1.) Create individual INI files with all the appropriate settings for each of the intended runs of the GME. For example, in a full migration cycle for a batch of users you would want one INI file for Exchange Admin functions, one for GroupWise admin functions and one for migrating. These are most easily created by running the GME Admin Driven Batch Migration wizard up to the point of starting it while making all the desired selections and then closing the wizard and saving off a copy of the gwmigapp.INI file.
2.) Open the gwmigapp.ini file, in the GME program files folder, and add the following parameter:
[General]
Silent=1
3.) Create a batch file that calls the gwmigapp.exe with the proper INI file for the desired run:
gwmigapp.exe /I migrate.INI
The following is an example of the contents of a working batch file:
CD "C:\Program Files\Quest Software\GroupWise Migrator for Exchange"
gwmigapp.exe /I "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator.TT\Desktop\GME Batch\auto_gwmigapp.ini"
4.) Schedule the batch file to run using Windows Task Scheduler or some other task scheduling tool.
