This article covers how to reset or return the Toad user settings such as menu items, icons, tool bars, user interface, GUI to default.
At times, switching monitors with different sizes, Toad will not display all windows properly.
WORKAROUND # 1
1. Close Toad for Oracle.
2. Rename the Desktops.xml file to Desktops.old. By default this file is located in the C:\Program Files\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle\User Files directory.
3. Launch Toad for Oracle and the menus should be restored to default.
The GUI settings for windows such as Session Browser, HealtCheck or ScriptManager are controlled by Toad_Gui.ini and Toad_Gui2.ini files. These file are also stored under the above folder. Close Toad and delete these files to reset the settings for such windows.
WORKAROUND # 2
For Toad for Oracle (12.x) below 12.6
If the GUI issue is still persistent then rename Toad.ini file. Note: renaming this file will revert all Toad settings to default, including loss of connection passwords.
