If an attempt is made to install the Directory Synchronization Agent (DSA) on a remote Windows XP workstation, the installation fails, and the RDP session simply logs into the computer. No installation takes place.
Windows XP workstation is not supported during a remote installation of the Directory Synchronization Agent.
To work around this perform the below mentioned steps:
1.) logon to the XP workstation that will have the Directory Synchronization Agent (DSA) installed using an account that has local administrator rights.
2.) click "start", then "run". From the "run" window, type the following:
3.) under the share named "dsasetup", run the "dsa.msi" installation package.
4.) during the installation you will be asked for project information. After the installation completes you may log off the XP workstation
5.) from the agent manager console within the QMM console, right click "agents" and choose the "refresh" option. The newly installed XP workstation should now be listed as a DSA agent.
**if the XP workstation is across a low bandwidth connection, or a connection with limited reliability, the dsa.msi package can be copied to the workstation and run from there.
