Vmware Environment Dashboards: Data Gaps seen throughout the graphs in Vmware environment.
Configuration| Data| VMware | Virtual Machines or Virtual Centers
Upon further review of the data browser, there is no gap in collection, but the graphs are still not plotting correctly. A deeper analysis of the VMware agent logs, shows that the vcenter collection is not returning within the expected time interval
com.quest.agent.esx.ESXAgent - Total elapsed time for PerformanceTask.runTask method is : 84.732 seconds
Workaround 1
Note: The review of the vCenter Performance should be investigated from the vSphere web client as Foglight uses the same APIs as the web client.
Review the vCenter and it's database to see if there's any performance issues. Check the the response times of vCenter's performance graphs over 1 or 3 day period. See response times when data is queried.
Workaround 2
In Foglight's Vmware Environment dashboards, customize the Calendar and set "Granularity" to "Auto"
VM-3551 is an improvement for Foglight that will make Foglight more resilient to vmware agent inconsistent data submission for slower enviornments
