Active Administrator includes the functionality of notifying administrators and interested users of certain events being triggered within Active Directory. These are alert notifications.
In some installations, multiple alerts, may be received when only one alert notification is expected.
Unnecessary audit policies are enabled on the domain controllers.
Audit policies determine which events are written to the event logs on the Domain Controllers.
When policies beyond the recommended minimum are enabled, more events are written to the event logs being audited by the Active Administrator audit agent. More events are written to the database and the possibility of multiple alert notifications is increased.
Open the Microsoft Group Policy Management Console (GPMC) and select the Default Domain Controller Audit Policies and set them to the recommended minimum levels.
Once replication has finished on all Domain Controllers, the expected rate of alert notifications will be achieved.
