Restored Exchange server cannot find the Exchange database
Description
After restoring an Exchange server, the path on which Exchange is looking for the database is not the path where the database files are located.
Cause
The database was moved at some time after the Recovery Point from which the Exchange Database was restored was taken. The path to the database is not stored on the Exchange server, but in Active Directory. Active Directory has the new path to the database but, because the RP was taken before the database was moved, the files are in the old location.
Resolution
Open the Exchange Shell and use the following command (tested on Exchange 2010)
Move-DatabasePath -Id "<Name of Database>" -ConfigurationOnly -EDBFilePath "<Path to Database including .edb file name>" -LogFolderPath "<Path to Logs>"
