Error: "System call error: No such file or directory 11062 - can't rename /<vardir/state&a
An error is returned in the event_log:
"System call error: No such file or directory 11062 - can't rename /splex/vardir-sebprod/state/o.sebprod-tcache.new to /splex/vardir-sebprod/state/o.sebprod-tcache.a [sp_ordr/24134]"
This error may also occur for other files such as statusdb.new.
The Solaris Operating System (OS) is returning this error when the capture code attempts to rename a tcache file that has just been created. This issue is related to a bug in the Solaris OS and the Veritas File system 3.4+.
Check the file permissions on the file that is generating this error, by typing "ls -l". If there are no problems with the file permissions, check to see if the var directory is on the Veritas File System.
For more information regarding this Solaris bug, please refer to Sun Article Doc ID #43142 - "With VxFS 3.4, the rename(2) System Call May Fail with "vxfs: mesg 008: vx_direrr: vx_dirrem_5", which states that a patch can be applied to resolve the issue:
According to this doc, this issue affects users on Solaris 2.6, 2.7, or 2.8 with Veritas 3.4, and the following patches should be applied to the following releases:
VERITAS File System 3.4 (for Solaris 2.6) without patch 110433-07 VERITAS File System 3.4 (for Solaris 7) without patch 110434-08 VERITAS File System 3.4 (for Solaris 8) without patch 110435-08
Although this doc only mentions Veritas File System 3.4, this problem has been seen in higher versions. This error may also be received for other files besides tcache, since this is a Solaris OS issue and SharePlex renames files as part of its normal operations.
